Depending on the extent of the damage, there are numerous ways to repair a shingle roof when it leaks. In order to get a hole repaired as soon as possible before the damage worsens, you must get in touch with a roofing company.

A rooftop deck is a typical feature of older homes. While it can be extremely attractive, it does need upkeep to remain a secure area to enjoy the outdoors. This kind of roof deck occasionally has to have a hole patched, which is a simple DIY project. There are steps to follow to patch a hole:

1. Remove all dirt and debris from the area, then fully let it dry. Spread the roofing cement liberally all around the hole with a paint stick or other similar implement. Just be persistent and patient because the cement is quite thick and sticky.

2. Wrap the stick in a newspaper or other waste paper to dispose of it once you have a good, thick coating of roofing cement all around the hole to prevent it from spreading to adjacent surfaces.

3. Place the adhesive drywall patch over the hole after removing the patch's protective paper covering. To protect your hands as you press the patch into place, lay the paper backing on top of the patch.

4. Spread additional roofing cement over the spot with the plastic putty knife, extending it past the first layer and tapering off in all four directions.

5. The middle of the roofing cement should be slightly domed, and the edges should be completely flat. After attempting to smooth the surface as much as you can, throw away the plastic putty knife. Walking on the roof deck should wait 24 hours after the patch has dried.
